Brenda Belak is the sex workers rights campaign lawyer at Pivot Legal Society, where she engages in strategic litigation to advance the health, safety and human rights of sex workers. In addition to practicing Aboriginal and natural resources law, Brenda was a policy researcher for the Missing Women Commission of Inquiry and the lead drafter of a bill on violence against women in Myanmar. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Brenda worked for more than a decade on international human rights issues. She has written a book about womens human rights in Myanmar and using the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women as a tool for advocacy.
