Today’s debut episode features Karine Péloffy, executive director of the Quebec Environmental Law Centre. She is one of the lawyers leading the legal fight against the proposed Energy East pipeline in Quebec, and she published an opinion piece in Ricochet last month entitled “We won’t let TransCanada’s pipeline bulldoze Quebec’s rights.”

Despite their critical importance to the national conversation around pipelines, the state of the various legal challenges against Energy East in Quebec is poorly understood, especially by those outside the province. In this podcast Péloffy explains why she and her organization believe they can use the courts to halt plans for new pipelines.

It’s a must-listen for anyone who wants to know whether this pipeline will be built.

Ricochet: Ultimately, how likely is it that we’re going to see the Energy East pipeline in Quebec?

Karine Péloffy: I think very unlikely.
