As we develop new tools to communicate with one another, special attention must be paid to the protection of our private lives. That’s why we are committed to respecting the confidentiality of all personal information we collect.

Ricochet does not sell, trade or otherwise share your data. Personally identifiable information that we collect (such as your name, email address or phone number) will only be used for internal Ricochet purposes, stored as securely as possible, and will not be released to anyone outside Ricochet without your consent. Anonymous and aggregated data, such as the general demographics of our audience, may be shared with funders or other third-parties to support Ricochet’s work.

All Ricochet employees or contractors who work with personally identifiable data are contractually obligated to uphold your privacy and safeguard that information.

Security

All personal information that we collect is stored in a secure environment. Persons working for Ricochet are likewise bound to respect the confidentiality of personal information.

We are committed to maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Notwithstanding that fact, no mechanism can guarantee perfect security, and there is always an element of risk when using the internet to transmit personal information.

Media

If you submit images to Ricochet or directly upload images to the website, you should avoid contributing images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

This site uses tracking cookies to enhance the user experience across each webpage. No information collected through these cookies which identifies you personally, but to preserve identifying information is saved

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you have editor privileges, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
