An avowed digital people-power wonk, Tom cut his teeth pioneering distributed organizing tactics as global coordinator of Adbusters’ Buy Nothing Day in the late nineties. Over the course of his career, he has also spent time in academia earning an M.A. in Media Studies and then several years in the private sector, where he co-founded a publicly-traded social media agency, developed patented performance evaluation software and gained unique experience leading online stakeholder dialogue projects. He is now back to his principal passion, helping social movements and causes gain traction through the application of new networked strategies. Tom also writes on these subjects for The Guardian, Mashable and Mobilisation Lab.
