David Murakami Wood is Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology with a cross-appointment to the Department of Geography. A Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Surveillance Studies, David is an interdisciplinary scholar of cities, security and surveillance. He is a core team member of the Big Data Surveillance partnership run by The Surveillance Studies Centre at Queen’s University. His research foci include ‘smart cities,’ urban studies, risk and (in)security, and literary and film depictions of surveillance and security, particularly in science fiction.
