Why we need a new Environmental Assessment Act
Suggested by Trevor James Smith
Much of the rhetoric coming from the NDP is that we need to trust in an environmental assessment to determine whether or not we should develop pipelines. The federal Greens haven't taken the NDP's position seriously, citing primarily the social argument against them (no citizen/aboriginal consideration).

The elephant in the room though is that Canadian Environmental Assessment policy was destroyed with Harper's C-38 omnibus bill. No party has mentioned that the CEA Act is a shadow of what it once was and given that the new act gives much more power to the parliamentary cabinet and that, aside from the Greens, all parties want to develop pipelines none likely will.
